Ladder App Alternative for Women Who Want a Finish Line

By the Solin teamPublished

Ladder says it's built for busy people "who are already motivated to workout." If you work hard but need a group to finish, your Ladder alternative is a Solin challenge with a start date. You begin the same day as other women, follow a creator's plan for typically 6 weeks, pay once, and train on iPhone or Android.

Apps like Ladder

All five of these put strength workouts on your phone. Where they differ is who writes your plan and who you train next to.

If you've started plans and not finished them

We don't think you're short on effort. You work hard all day, at a job, at home, or both. What's often missing is a clear end date and people to reach it with. We call that community over willpower.

Ladder's answer is a fresh plan every week. You join one of its 23 coach-led teams, Ladder says, and the coach posts a new 7-day plan every Sunday. Workouts come with in-ear coaching, video demos and pacing.

A Solin challenge has a finish line, typically 6 weeks out. Many start on a set day, so you begin with the other women who signed up. You can do many challenges at home or at the gym.

Our members say it better. Gsxr_babe wrote in an App Store review in November 2025: "Doing this challenge at the same time as others keep me motivated. It’s like a social platform and everyone has the same goal." SamLykins wrote that same month: "I have been using Solin for six weeks now and it is the first time I’ve ever completed a challenging in its entirety." Results vary.

Our own numbers agree. Of 93 winners interviewed, 90% credited the challenge community for motivation and support, and 59% said it was a major key to keeping them accountable.

New to lifting and want to see what six weeks looks like? Our free 6-week workout plan for women lays it out, and the weekly workout planner fits it around the days you have. When you want a group, see which challenges start next.

Questions about Ladder alternatives

Is there an app like Ladder but free?

The Solin app is free to download, and you pay once for each challenge you buy, at the price its creator sets, not every month. Ladder gives you 7 free days and a free workout of the day with no signup. After that, it's a subscription.

How much does Ladder cost?

On Ladder's pricing page, Pro is $29.99 a month for one team or $179.99 a year for every team, once the 7 free days are up. Ladder's own product file also lists higher in-app tiers on the App Store, from $34.99 to $49.99 a month, with added 1:1 coaching. US prices as of Oct 24, 2026. A Solin challenge is one price, paid once: Lift to Lean is $110.

Does Ladder track nutrition?

Yes. Ladder's iOS app logs meals, with calories and protein first, plus carbs, fat, fiber and about 50 other nutrients, and you set your own targets. Ladder says it's included in the subscription, with no meal planner or recipe library. On Solin, food is optional: Solin Prime, a separate paid plan, adds photo, barcode and voice logging, weekly meal plans and Dash, an AI nutrition coach, with 7 days free.

What if a challenge isn't for me?

Ask for your money back. Every challenge on Solin has a 30-day money-back guarantee: if you're not happy within 30 days of buying, Solin refunds you. Then try a creator whose style suits you, with a start date that fits your week.
