Garlic-Herb Pan Seared Tofu Steaks
Savor the satisfying flavors of garlic and fresh herbs in these pan-seared tofu steaks. Marinated in a zesty blend of garlic, thyme, and parsley with a drizzle of olive oil, the extra firm tofu is perfectly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Served with a side of shelled edamame for an extra protein boost, this dish is as nourishing as it is flavorful.
INGREDIENTS
300g Extra Firm Tofu
0.25 cup Shelled Edamame
2 tsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 Garlic Cloves
1 tbsp Fresh Thyme
1 tbsp Fresh Parsley
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
Salt & Pepper to taste
PREPARATION
Press the extra firm tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1/2-inch thick steaks.
In a small bowl, mince the garlic and combine with chopped fresh thyme, parsley, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix in the olive oil to create a marinade.
Lightly coat each tofu steak with the garlic-herb marinade. Let the tofu marinate for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the tofu steaks and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden and slightly crispy.
While the tofu cooks, prepare the shelled edamame by warming them in a small saucepan or microwave for 1-2 minutes and seasoning with a pinch of salt if desired.
Plate the seared tofu steaks alongside the warm edamame. Drizzle any remaining marinade over the tofu for extra flavor and serve immediately.
