INGREDIENTS
400g Extra Firm Tofu
1/2 cup Canned Chickpeas (drained)
1 tbsp Olive Oil
2 Garlic Cloves
1 tsp Fresh Oregano
1 tsp Fresh Thyme
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
Salt and Pepper to taste
PREPARATION
Drain the tofu and pat dry with paper towels. Slice the tofu into thick steaks.
In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, chopped fresh oregano, and thyme with the olive oil and lemon juice.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add half of the garlic-herb mixture and sear the tofu steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Remove the tofu and add the drained chickpeas to the same pan. Sauté them for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, allowing them to pick up the remaining herb flavors.
Season both tofu and chickpeas with salt and pepper to taste.
Plate the tofu steaks and top with the warm, flavored chickpeas. Drizzle any remaining herb mixture over the top before serving.
