Savor the flavors of a lean turkey patty paired with earthy mushrooms and sweet, slow-caramelized onions, finished with a light melt of low-fat cheddar on a wholesome whole-grain bun. This balanced burger offers a delightful blend of textures and a boost of protein, perfect for any meal of the day.
INGREDIENTS
4 oz Lean Ground Turkey
1/2 cup sliced Mushrooms
1/4 medium Onion, sliced
1 tsp Olive Oil
1 Whole-Grain Bun
1 oz Low-Fat Cheddar Cheese Slice
Salt & Pepper to taste
PREPARATION
Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
Add olive oil to the pan and toss in the sliced onions and mushrooms. Sauté until the onions become golden and start to caramelize, about 6-8 minutes. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
While the vegetables are cooking, form the lean ground turkey into a patty. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Push the caramelized onion and mushroom mixture to one side of the skillet and place the turkey patty on the cleared space. Cook the turkey patty for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip.
Once flipped, place the low-fat cheddar cheese slice on top of the patty to allow it to melt as the turkey finishes cooking (about another 4-5 minutes).
Lightly toast the whole-grain bun in a separate pan or toaster to add a bit of crunch.
Assemble the burger by placing the cooked turkey patty with melted cheese on the bun and topping it with the caramelized onions and mushrooms.
Serve immediately and enjoy your balanced, nutrient-packed meal.
