INGREDIENTS
4 oz Lean Ground Turkey
1 slice Turkey Bacon
1 Whole Grain Bun
1 slice Low-Fat Cheese
1/2 medium Yellow Onion (sliced)
1 tsp Olive Oil
2 leaves Lettuce
2 slices Tomato
PREPARATION
Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Add the olive oil and thinly sliced onions. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and deeply caramelized, about 10-12 minutes.
In a bowl, shape the lean ground turkey into a patty, season with salt and pepper if desired.
In the same skillet or on a grill pan, cook the turkey patty over medium heat, about 4-5 minutes on each side until fully cooked.
In a separate pan, crisp the turkey bacon over medium heat until it reaches a desired crispness.
Lightly toast the whole grain bun. Assemble the burger by placing the cooked turkey patty on the bottom half of the bun, top with the caramelized onions, then lay the turkey bacon and low-fat cheese slice on top. Allow the cheese to slightly melt from the warmth of the patty.
Garnish with fresh lettuce and tomato slices before capping with the top half of the bun. Serve immediately.
