INGREDIENTS
4 ounces Lean Ground Turkey
1 ounce Low-Fat Mozzarella Cheese
2 tablespoons Whole Wheat Breadcrumbs
1 large Egg White
1 Whole Wheat Burger Bun
Cooking Spray
1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
Pinch of Black Pepper
Pinch of Salt
PREPARATION
Preheat your oven to 400°F and lightly grease a baking sheet with cooking spray.
In a bowl, combine the lean ground turkey, egg white, breadcrumbs, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently until just combined.
Divide the turkey mixture into two equal portions. Take one part and flatten it into a patty on your hands.
Place the mozzarella cheese in the center of the patty and fold the edges over to completely encase the cheese, forming a stuffed patty. Press the seams securely.
Place the stuffed patty onto the prepared baking sheet. For a crispy exterior, lightly spray the top with cooking spray.
Bake the patty in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the outside is golden and crispy.
While the patty is baking, toast the whole wheat burger bun lightly.
Assemble your burger by placing the crispy baked turkey patty on the bottom half of the bun. Optionally add your favorite fresh veggies or a light spread if desired, then top with the bun's top half.
Serve immediately and enjoy your protein-packed, crispy baked mozzarella-stuffed turkey burger.
