Garlic-Herb Pan Seared Tofu Steaks
Savor these perfectly pan-seared tofu steaks, marinated in a zesty garlic and herb blend, with a hint of lemon to brighten the taste. The crispy edges and tender center make it a delightful plant-based main, paired with freshly steamed broccoli for an extra boost of nutrition.
INGREDIENTS
1 block (350g) Extra Firm Tofu
1 tbsp Olive Oil
2 cloves Garlic
2 sprigs Fresh Rosemary
2 sprigs Fresh Thyme
1 whole Lemon
0.5 tsp Salt
0.5 tsp Black Pepper
1 cup Broccoli
PREPARATION
Press the tofu block for at least 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture, then slice it into 1/2-inch thick steaks.
In a shallow dish, whisk together olive oil, minced garlic, chopped rosemary and thyme (remove leaves from the sprigs), the zest and juice of the lemon, salt, and black pepper.
Marinate the tofu steaks in the garlic-herb mixture for 10-15 minutes, ensuring each piece is well coated.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the tofu steaks and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side until they develop a golden, crispy crust.
While tofu is cooking, steam the broccoli until tender, about 4 minutes.
Plate the tofu steaks alongside the steamed broccoli and drizzle any remaining pan sauce over the top. Serve warm and enjoy.
