Herb-Crusted Pan-Seared Tofu Steaks
Enjoy a beautifully seared tofu steak infused with a vibrant blend of herbs. The tofu is pressed to enhance its texture, then pan-seared in olive oil with a crust of basil, parsley, thyme, and rosemary. A squeeze of lemon at the end brightens the dish, making it a satisfying option for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
INGREDIENTS
400g Extra Firm Tofu
1 tbsp Olive Oil
2 tbsp Fresh Basil, chopped
2 tbsp Fresh Parsley, chopped
1 tsp Fresh Thyme, chopped
1 tsp Fresh Rosemary, chopped
1 tsp Garlic Powder
Pinch of Salt
Pinch of Black Pepper
1 Lemon Wedge
PREPARATION
Drain and press the tofu for at least 20 minutes to remove excess water.
Slice the tofu into 4 even steaks.
In a small bowl, mix together the chopped basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary, and garlic powder with a pinch of salt and black pepper.
Lightly brush each tofu steak with olive oil on both sides.
Press the herb mixture onto one side of each tofu steak to form a crust.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
Place the tofu steaks herb-side down in the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes until the crust is golden.
Flip the steaks and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side until heated through and slightly crisp.
Remove from heat, finish with a squeeze of lemon, and serve immediately.
