INGREDIENTS
4 oz Ground Turkey
1 oz Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese
1/4 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
1 Egg White
1 Whole Wheat Burger Bun
Olive Oil Spray
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
Salt & Pepper to taste
PREPARATION
Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, mix the ground turkey with the egg white, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the burger tender.
Divide the mixture into two equal portions. On a piece of parchment, flatten one portion into a patty shape.
Place the mozzarella cheese in the center of the patty and cover with the second portion of the turkey mixture, sealing the edges completely to encase the cheese.
Gently press the formed burger to achieve an even thickness, then coat the exterior with panko breadcrumbs. For extra crispiness, lightly spray the patty with olive oil spray.
Place the burger on the baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the turkey is cooked through and the breadcrumbs turn golden brown.
Toast the whole wheat bun lightly if desired. Assemble the burger by placing the turkey patty in between the bun halves.
Serve warm and enjoy your deliciously crispy, cheesy, and lean turkey burger.
