Enjoy a flavorful twist on your classic turkey burger with an oozy center of melted part-skim mozzarella. This baked creation is perfectly seasoned with garlic and onion powder, lightly bound with egg white and whole wheat breadcrumbs for a satisfying crunch, making it a versatile choice for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
INGREDIENTS
6 oz Lean Ground Turkey
1 oz Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese
2 tbsp Whole Wheat Breadcrumbs
1 large Egg White
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Onion Powder
Salt & Pepper to taste
Fresh Basil (optional)
PREPARATION
Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, combine the lean ground turkey, whole wheat breadcrumbs, egg white, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.
Divide the turkey mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty.
Place the mozzarella cheese in the indentation of each patty. Carefully fold the edges over the cheese to fully encase it, forming a stuffed patty.
Place the patties on the prepared baking sheet. Optionally, tuck a few fresh basil leaves on top for added herb flavor.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the turkey reaches a safe internal temperature of 165°F and the exterior is lightly crispy.
Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
