Herb-Crusted Seared Tuna with Citrus Glaze
Savor a beautifully seared tuna steak with a crisp herb crust and a vibrant citrus glaze that brings a burst of freshness to every bite. Paired with a side of tender asparagus, this dish is a light yet nourishing option perfect for a balanced dinner.
INGREDIENTS
6 oz Tuna Steak
1 tbsp Mixed Fresh Herbs (parsley & cilantro)
1 tsp Olive Oil
1 medium Orange (for juice)
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
1 tsp Honey
1 Garlic Clove
0.5 cup Asparagus
PREPARATION
Pat the tuna steak dry with a paper towel. Finely chop the mixed fresh herbs and set aside.
Season the tuna on both sides with salt and pepper. Press the chopped herbs onto the surface of the tuna to create a crust.
Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. When hot, add the tuna and sear for about 1.5 to 2 minutes per side, ensuring a nicely browned crust while keeping the center rare to medium-rare.
While the tuna is searing, prepare the citrus glaze by combining fresh orange juice, lemon juice, honey, and a minced garlic clove in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and let it reduce slightly for about 2-3 minutes.
Remove the glaze from heat once it thickens slightly. You can spoon a little over the seared tuna once plated.
Blanch the asparagus in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until tender but still crisp, then quickly transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop cooking.
Plate the herb-crusted tuna with a drizzle of the citrus glaze on top and serve alongside the blanched asparagus.
