Rinse the salmon fillet and pat dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add 1.5 tsp of olive oil.
Once the olive oil is shimmering, add the salmon fillet skin-side down (if applicable), and sear for about 3-4 minutes. Flip the fillet, add minced garlic, and sear for another 3-4 minutes until cooked through.
While the salmon is cooking, steam 1 cup of broccoli until tender but still vibrant, about 4-5 minutes.
Prepare brown rice according to package instructions, or use pre-cooked brown rice heated through. If using fresh rice, bring to a boil, then simmer until tender, about 30-35 minutes.
Plate the browned rice and steamed broccoli, and gently place the seared salmon on top.
Drizzle the fresh lemon juice over the salmon and vegetables for a bright finish before serving.
