INGREDIENTS
4 oz Lean Ground Beef (93% lean)
1 large Egg White
1 oz Low-moisture Part-Skim Mozzarella
1 Small Whole Wheat Bun
1 medium Tomato
1/4 cup chopped Fresh Basil
1 Garlic Clove
1/2 tsp Olive Oil
PREPARATION
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
In a bowl, combine the lean ground beef with the egg white. Season lightly with salt and pepper, and shape into a patty.
Place the beef patty on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
While the patty is baking, slice the tomato and finely chop the basil and garlic.
In a small saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the garlic for about 30 seconds, then add the tomato and basil. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Once the patty is nearly done, top it with the mozzarella cheese slice and return to the oven for 3-4 minutes until the cheese melts and turns lightly crispy.
Lightly toast the whole wheat bun if desired.
Assemble the burger by placing the cooked patty with melted mozzarella on the bun and drizzling with the fresh tomato basil sauce.
Serve immediately and enjoy your nutritious, flavorful burger.
