Pan-Seared Herbed Tofu Steaks with Roasted Asparagus
Enjoy a vibrant dish featuring thick, herb-infused tofu steaks paired with tender roasted asparagus. The robust flavors of fresh rosemary and thyme meld with a hint of lemon zest to create a satisfying meal that's as visually appealing as it is nutritious.
INGREDIENTS
400g Extra Firm Tofu
1 bunch Asparagus (approx. 134g)
1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 tsp Fresh Rosemary
1 tsp Fresh Thyme
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
Pinch of Salt
Pinch of Black Pepper
PREPARATION
Drain the tofu and press it to remove excess moisture. Slice the tofu into 3/4-inch thick steaks.
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss the asparagus with half of the olive oil, a pinch of salt, and pepper. Spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast for about 12-15 minutes until tender.
While the asparagus roasts, heat the remaining olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
Lightly season the tofu steaks with salt, pepper, rosemary, and thyme. Add the tofu to the skillet and sear each side for about 3-4 minutes until golden and crisp on the edges.
Drizzle the seared tofu with lemon juice in the final minute of cooking to brighten the flavors.
Plate the tofu steaks with the roasted asparagus on the side and serve immediately.
