Enjoy a vibrant, savory quesadilla featuring thinly sliced lean steak, whole wheat tortillas, and a colorful medley of sautéed bell peppers and onions, all complemented by a light melt of low-fat cheese for an irresistible texture and flavor.
INGREDIENTS
4 oz Lean Sirloin Steak
1 Whole Wheat Tortilla (approx. 50g)
1/4 cup Low-Fat Shredded Cheese
1/2 medium Red Bell Pepper
1/4 medium Onion
1 tsp Olive Oil
PREPARATION
Thinly slice the lean sirloin steak against the grain for tenderness.
Season the steak with a pinch of salt, pepper, or your favorite seasoning blend.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
Sauté the sliced onions and red bell peppers until they soften and begin to caramelize, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Wipe the skillet clean and cook the seasoned steak slices for about 2-3 minutes per side until nicely browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
Lower the heat to medium. Place the whole wheat tortilla in the skillet and sprinkle a layer of low-fat shredded cheese over half of the tortilla.
Add the cooked steak and sautéed peppers and onions on top of the cheese, then sprinkle a little more cheese over the filling.
Fold the tortilla in half, pressing down gently with a spatula.
Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts and the tortilla becomes crispy and golden.
Remove from the skillet, slice into wedges, and serve immediately.
