Pan-Seared Sirloin with Whole Wheat Penne and Garlicky Greens
Enjoy a satisfying and nutritious dinner featuring a perfectly pan-seared sirloin steak paired with whole wheat penne pasta and a medley of garlicky greens. This dish offers a delightful blend of savory beef, hearty pasta, and fresh spinach accented by aromatic garlic, all cooked in a light touch of olive oil.
INGREDIENTS
4 oz Sirloin Steak
1 cup Whole Wheat Penne Pasta (cooked)
2 cups Baby Spinach
2 cloves Garlic
1 tsp Olive Oil
Salt and Pepper to taste
PREPARATION
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the whole wheat penne pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.
While the pasta cooks, pat the sirloin steak dry with a paper towel and season both sides with salt and pepper.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add half of the olive oil. Once shimmering, add the steak and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest.
In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add the remaining olive oil. Add minced garlic (from the 2 cloves) and sauté briefly until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Add the baby spinach to the skillet and toss until just wilted, about 1-2 minutes. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Slice the rested steak thinly against the grain.
To serve, combine the cooked whole wheat penne with the garlicky greens and top with sliced sirloin steak. Enjoy warm.
