Crispy Pan-Seared Tofu with Garlic Green Beans and Brown Rice
Enjoy a vibrant dish featuring crispy pan-seared extra-firm tofu paired with garlicky, tender green beans and a serving of nutty brown rice. The tofu is lightly coated in cornstarch for a delightful crunch while the garlic and sesame oil add a fragrant finish, making this meal a balanced, clean-eating option.
INGREDIENTS
400g Extra Firm Tofu
150g Green Beans
100g Cooked Brown Rice
2 cloves Minced Garlic
1 tsp Sesame Oil
1 tbsp Cornstarch
Salt and Pepper to taste
PREPARATION
Press the extra firm tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1/2-inch cubes.
In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add sesame oil. Once hot, add the tofu cubes and pan-sear them until golden and crispy on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove tofu from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté briefly until fragrant (about 30 seconds), taking care not to burn it.
Add the green beans to the skillet, season with a pinch of salt and pepper, and stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes until they are tender-crisp and infused with garlic flavor.
Warm the cooked brown rice if needed. Serve the garlic green beans over a bed of brown rice with the crispy tofu arranged on top.
Garnish with additional black pepper or a drizzle of sesame oil if desired, and enjoy your balanced, nutritious meal.
