Crispy Double Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders
Smashed lean beef patties seared until caramelized and topped with crispy turkey bacon and melted sharp cheddar on toasted whole grain buns.
INGREDIENTS
4.5 oz ground beef
1 slice turkey bacon
0.25 oz sharp cheddar cheese
1 small whole grain slider buns
2 leaves butter lettuce
2 slices tomato
0.25 tsp sea salt
0.25 tsp black pepper
0.25 tsp garlic powder
0 tsp avocado oil
PREPARATION
Place the turkey bacon in a cold skillet and turn the heat to medium. Cook until the bacon is golden and crispy, then remove and set aside on a paper towel.
Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and roll them into loose balls. Season the outside of the balls with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Wipe out the skillet and add the avocado oil over medium-high heat. Once the pan is shimmering, place the beef balls in the pan and use a heavy spatula to smash them down into very thin patties.
Cook the patties for 2 minutes without moving them to develop a deep brown crust. Flip the patties and immediately top two of them with the sharp cheddar cheese.
Place the other two patties on top of the cheesy ones to create two double-stacks. Remove from the heat once the cheese is melted.
Briefly toast the slider buns in the same pan. Assemble by layering the bottom bun with butter lettuce, a tomato slice, the double beef stack, a piece of crispy bacon, and the top bun.
