Crispy Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Biscuits
Air-fried chicken breast marinated in tangy buttermilk and coated in savory spices, served with a warm whole wheat biscuit and a drizzle of golden honey.
INGREDIENTS
5 oz boneless skinless chicken breast
2 tbsp low-fat buttermilk
2 tbsp whole wheat breadcrumbs
0.25 tsp sea salt
0.25 tsp black pepper
0.25 tsp garlic powder
0.25 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp avocado oil
1 medium whole wheat biscuit
1 tsp raw honey
PREPARATION
Slice the chicken breast into three even strips and place them in a bowl with the buttermilk to marinate for 15 minutes.
In a shallow dish, whisk together the breadcrumbs, sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
Remove each chicken strip from the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off, then dredge thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture.
Lightly coat the air fryer basket with avocado oil, place the chicken inside, and mist the tops of the chicken with the remaining oil.
Air-fry at 400°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the coating is crunchy and the chicken is cooked through.
During the last 2 minutes of cooking, place the whole wheat biscuit in the air fryer to warm through.
Serve the crispy chicken alongside the warm biscuit and finish with a light drizzle of raw honey.
