Smoky Sloppy Joe Sliders with Crispy Onions
Lean ground beef simmered in a smoky tomato sauce and piled onto toasted buns with golden, crispy air-fried onions for a savory crunch.
INGREDIENTS
7 oz Ground beef 93% lean
1 whole Whole wheat slider buns
0.25 cup Tomato puree
1 tbsp Coconut aminos
1 tsp Yellow mustard
0.5 tsp Smoked paprika
0.25 tsp Garlic powder
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
0.5 cup Yellow onion
0 tsp Olive oil
PREPARATION
Slice the yellow onion into very thin half-moons and toss them in a small bowl with the olive oil until evenly coated.
Place the onions in an air fryer basket and cook at 375°F for 8-10 minutes, shaking halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
While the onions cook, heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula until fully browned.
Stir in the tomato puree, coconut aminos, yellow mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer the beef mixture for 5-7 minutes until the sauce has thickened and glossy, coating the meat thoroughly.
Briefly toast the whole wheat slider buns in the oven or a toaster until the edges are light brown.
Spoon the smoky beef mixture onto the bottom buns, top with a generous heap of crispy onions, and place the top buns on to serve.
