Crispy Mozzarella Stick Burger
Pan-seared grass-fed beef patty topped with a golden almond-crusted mozzarella stick, served on a toasted sprouted bun with fresh arugula and tomatoes.
INGREDIENTS
5 oz 93% lean ground beef
1 stick low-moisture part-skim mozzarella cheese
1 tbsp almond flour
0.25 tsp garlic powder
0.25 tsp onion powder
0.25 tsp dried oregano
1 large egg white
0 whole sprouted grain bun
0.5 cup baby arugula
2 slice tomato
0 tsp avocado oil
0.25 tsp sea salt
0.25 tsp black pepper
PREPARATION
Slice the mozzarella stick in half crosswise to create two shorter sticks.
In a small bowl, whisk the egg white until frothy. In another bowl, combine the almond flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried oregano.
Dip each mozzarella stick into the egg white, then dredge in the almond flour mixture until fully coated. Place in an air fryer at 400°F for 4-5 minutes or until golden and crispy.
While the cheese cooks, season the ground beef with sea salt and black pepper, then form into a single patty.
Heat avocado oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the patty for 4 minutes per side for medium doneness.
Lightly toast the sprouted grain bun in the same skillet or a toaster.
Assemble the burger by placing the baby arugula and tomato slices on the bottom bun, followed by the beef patty and the crispy mozzarella sticks.
Top with the remaining bun half and serve immediately while the cheese is melty.
