Tender Beef and Caramelized Onion Sandwich
Thinly sliced steak seared to perfection and topped with golden caramelized onions on toasted sourdough for a savory, melt-in-your-mouth experience.
INGREDIENTS
5 oz Beef top round steak
1 medium Yellow onion
0.5 tsp Olive oil
0.5 medium Sourdough roll
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 cup Arugula
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
0.25 tsp Garlic powder
PREPARATION
Slice the yellow onion into thin half-moons.
Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Add the onions and a pinch of the sea salt, cooking for 15-20 minutes until soft and deeply golden.
While onions cook, thinly slice the beef against the grain and season with the remaining sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Once onions are done, remove them from the pan and increase the heat to medium-high.
Add the beef slices to the hot pan in a single layer, searing for 1-2 minutes per side until browned and tender.
Slice the sourdough roll in half and lightly toast it until the edges are crisp.
Spread Dijon mustard on the bottom half of the roll, then layer with arugula, the seared beef, and the caramelized onions.
Close the sandwich and serve immediately while the beef is hot.
