Crispy Gluten-Free Beef Burgers with Caramelized Onions
Pan-seared lean beef patties topped with sweet, balsamic-glazed caramelized onions and served in crisp butter lettuce leaves for a satisfying crunch.
INGREDIENTS
8 oz 93% Lean ground beef
1 tsp Avocado oil
1 cup Yellow onion
1 tbsp Balsamic vinegar
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
0.25 tsp Garlic powder
2 large Butter lettuce leaves
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
PREPARATION
Thinly slice the yellow onion into half-moons.
Heat avocado oil in a skillet over medium-low heat; add onions and cook slowly for 15 minutes until soft and golden.
Stir balsamic vinegar into the onions and cook for another 2 minutes until glazed and jammy, then remove from the pan and set aside.
In a bowl, gently combine the ground beef with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, being careful not to overwork the meat.
Form the beef into two equal patties, pressing a small indentation into the center of each to prevent bulging.
Wipe out the skillet and increase heat to medium-high; sear the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until a dark, crispy crust forms and the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness.
Lay out the butter lettuce leaves and spread a layer of Dijon mustard on each.
Place the beef patties onto the lettuce leaves and top generously with the balsamic caramelized onions before serving.
