Tender Caramelized Beef and Onion Sandwich
Sautéed lean sirloin strips and sweet caramelized onions piled onto toasted sourdough, finished with a melt of sharp provolone for a savory, golden bite.
INGREDIENTS
3.5 oz Lean sirloin steak
1 medium Yellow onion
1 tsp Extra virgin olive oil
1 slice Sourdough bread
1 slice Provolone cheese
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
1 tsp Balsamic vinegar
1 cup Baby arugula
PREPARATION
Thinly slice the yellow onion and the lean sirloin steak into bite-sized strips.
Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
Add the onions to the skillet and sauté for 10-12 minutes until soft and golden brown, stirring in the balsamic vinegar during the last 2 minutes.
Remove the onions from the pan and increase the heat to medium-high.
Add the steak strips to the pan, seasoning with sea salt and black pepper, and sear for 3-4 minutes until browned and tender.
Return the onions to the pan and toss with the beef to combine.
Toast the sourdough bread slice and immediately top with the provolone cheese so it begins to melt.
Pile the hot beef and onion mixture onto the cheesy toast and top with fresh baby arugula before serving.
