Crispy Mozzarella Stick Burger
Pan-seared lean beef patty topped with an air-fried, almond-crusted mozzarella stick for a satisfying crunch nestled in a toasted whole grain bun.
INGREDIENTS
5 oz Ground beef (93% lean)
0.5 whole Mozzarella stick
1 large Egg white
0.5 tbsp Almond flour
0.25 tsp Garlic powder
0.25 tsp Dried oregano
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
0.5 whole Whole wheat bun
1 leaf Romaine lettuce
1 slice Tomato
0 tsp Olive oil
PREPARATION
In a small shallow bowl, whisk the egg white until it becomes slightly frothy.
In a second shallow bowl, mix together the almond flour, garlic powder, and dried oregano.
Cut the mozzarella stick in half crosswise, then dip each piece into the egg white followed by the almond flour mixture, pressing to adhere.
Place the breaded mozzarella pieces in an air fryer at 400°F for 4 to 5 minutes until the coating is golden and crispy.
While the cheese is air frying, form the ground beef into a single patty and season both sides with the sea salt and black pepper.
Heat the olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and sear the beef patty for 4 to 5 minutes per side until cooked to your desired level of doneness.
Remove the patty and lightly toast the whole wheat bun in the same skillet for about 30 seconds to absorb the remaining flavors.
Assemble the burger by placing the romaine lettuce and tomato slice on the bottom bun, followed by the beef patty and the crispy mozzarella sticks.
