Double Bacon Cheeseburger with Caramelized Onions
Pan-seared lean beef patties layered with crispy bacon and sharp cheddar, topped with sweet caramelized onions on a toasted sprouted bun.
INGREDIENTS
5 oz 93% Lean ground beef
0 slices Center-cut bacon
0 slice Sharp cheddar cheese
0.5 whole Sprouted grain bun
0.5 cup Yellow onion
0 tsp Extra virgin olive oil
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
1 leaf Romaine lettuce
1 slice Tomato
PREPARATION
Thinly slice the yellow onion into half-moons.
Heat the olive oil in a small skillet over medium-low heat, adding the onions and cooking until soft and golden brown, approximately 15 minutes.
While onions caramelize, divide the ground beef into two 2.5-ounce portions and press them into thin, wide patties.
Season both sides of the beef patties with sea salt and black pepper.
In a separate skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, then set aside on a paper towel.
Increase the heat of the bacon skillet to medium-high and sear the beef patties for 3 minutes on the first side.
Flip the patties, immediately place the cheddar cheese slice on one patty, and stack the second patty directly on top to help the cheese melt.
Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through.
Lightly toast the sprouted grain bun in the skillet or a toaster.
Assemble the burger by placing the lettuce and tomato on the bottom bun, followed by the double patty stack, the crispy bacon, and the caramelized onions.
