Garlic-Soy Steak with Sticky Rice
Pan-seared sirloin steak glazed in a savory garlic-tamari reduction, served over fragrant sticky rice with crisp-tender bok choy.
INGREDIENTS
0.25 cup cooked glutinous rice
4 oz top sirloin steak
0.25 tsp avocado oil
1 tbsp tamari
0.25 tsp toasted sesame oil
2 cloves garlic
1 tsp fresh ginger
2 cups baby bok choy
0.25 tsp sea salt
0.25 tsp black pepper
PREPARATION
Prepare the glutinous rice in advance so it is warm and sticky.
Season the top sirloin steak with sea salt and black pepper on both sides.
Heat avocado oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and sear the steak for 3-4 minutes per side.
Transfer the steak to a cutting board to rest for 5 minutes.
In the same skillet, add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Toss in the baby bok choy with a tablespoon of water and steam until the leaves are wilted and the stems are tender.
Whisk together the tamari and toasted sesame oil, then slice the steak and serve over the sticky rice with the bok choy and a drizzle of the sauce.
