Double Bacon Cheeseburger with Caramelized Onions
Juicy grass-fed beef patties seared to perfection and topped with smoky bacon and sweet, golden caramelized onions wrapped in crisp butter lettuce.
INGREDIENTS
6 oz Ground beef (93% lean)
1 slice Center-cut bacon
0.5 slice Sharp cheddar cheese
0.5 cup Yellow onion
0 tsp Avocado oil
2 large Butter lettuce leaves
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
0.25 tsp Garlic powder
PREPARATION
In a small skillet over medium-low heat, add the avocado oil and sliced onions. Cook slowly for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and golden brown.
While onions cook, place the bacon slices in a cold pan and turn the heat to medium. Fry until crispy, then set aside on a paper towel to drain.
Divide the ground beef into two equal portions and shape them into thin patties. Season both sides of each patty with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the beef patties and sear for 3-4 minutes per side until cooked through and nicely browned.
During the last minute of cooking, place half a slice of cheese on each patty and cover the pan briefly to melt the cheese completely.
Stack the two cheesy patties on top of each other, then top with the crispy bacon slices and the sweet caramelized onions.
Carefully wrap the double burger stack in the large butter lettuce leaves and serve immediately while hot and juicy.
