Mozzarella Stick Beef Burger with Marinara
Pan-seared grass-fed beef patty topped with gooey almond-crusted mozzarella sticks and rich marinara sauce on a toasted whole grain bun.
INGREDIENTS
5 oz Grass-fed ground beef (93% lean)
2 whole Part-skim mozzarella cheese sticks
1 tbsp Almond flour
0.25 tsp Dried oregano
0.25 tsp Garlic powder
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
0.25 cup Marinara sauce (no sugar added)
0 whole Whole wheat burger bun
1 cup Fresh arugula
PREPARATION
In a small bowl, combine the almond flour, dried oregano, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper.
Cut the mozzarella sticks in half and roll them in the almond flour mixture until lightly coated.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and lightly sear the mozzarella sticks for 30-45 seconds per side until the coating is golden and the cheese is just starting to soften, then remove from the pan.
Form the ground beef into a single patty and season both sides with a pinch of salt and pepper.
In the same skillet, cook the beef patty for 4-5 minutes per side or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.
While the beef cooks, lightly toast the whole wheat bun in a separate pan or toaster.
Warm the marinara sauce in a small saucepan or microwave-safe dish.
Place the arugula on the bottom bun, followed by the beef patty, the mozzarella stick halves, and a generous spoonful of marinara sauce.
Top with the remaining bun half and serve immediately.
