Double Bacon Cheeseburger with Caramelized Onions
Pan-seared lean beef patties topped with crispy bacon and sweet caramelized onions, nestled in buttery lettuce leaves for a satisfying crunch.
INGREDIENTS
6 oz Ground beef (93% lean)
1 slice Sugar-free bacon
0.5 oz Sharp cheddar cheese
0.5 medium Yellow onion
0 tsp Avocado oil
2 large Butter lettuce leaves
1 slice Tomato
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
1 tsp Dijon mustard
PREPARATION
Thinly slice the yellow onion. Heat avocado oil in a skillet over medium-low heat and sauté the onions until they are soft, golden, and caramelized, about 15 minutes.
In a separate skillet, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
Divide the ground beef into two 3oz portions and form them into thin, wide patties. Season both sides with sea salt and black pepper.
Increase the heat to medium-high in the skillet used for the bacon (drain excess fat if needed) and sear the beef patties for 3-4 minutes per side.
During the last minute of cooking, place the cheddar cheese on one patty and the caramelized onions on the other to warm through.
Lay out the butter lettuce leaves. Place the first patty down, stack the second patty on top, followed by the crispy bacon and tomato slice.
Spread Dijon mustard on the top lettuce leaf and wrap tightly to serve.
