Double Bacon Cheeseburger with Caramelized Onions
Pan-seared lean beef patties topped with crispy turkey bacon and velvety caramelized onions, served in fresh butter lettuce wraps.
INGREDIENTS
6 oz Ground beef (93% lean)
1 slice Turkey bacon
0.5 slice Swiss cheese
0.5 cup Yellow onion
0 tsp Olive oil
2 leaf Butter lettuce
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
0.25 tsp Garlic powder
PREPARATION
Thinly slice the yellow onion. Heat the olive oil in a small skillet over medium-low heat and cook the onions, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes until they are soft and golden brown.
While the onions cook, place the turkey bacon in a separate skillet over medium heat and cook until crispy. Remove and set aside on a paper towel.
In a medium bowl, season the ground beef with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently and form into two equal-sized thin patties.
Increase the heat of the bacon skillet to medium-high. Place the beef patties in the pan and sear for 3-4 minutes per side until cooked through.
During the last minute of cooking, cut the Swiss cheese slice in half and place one half on each patty. Cover the pan with a lid for 30 seconds to melt the cheese.
To assemble, stack the two cheesy patties inside the butter lettuce leaves. Top with the crispy turkey bacon and the caramelized onions.
