Chicken Tikka Masala with Basmati Rice
Sautéed chicken breast simmered in a creamy, spiced tomato sauce and served over aromatic basmati rice for a fragrant and satisfying meal.
INGREDIENTS
5 oz chicken breast
0.25 cup Greek yogurt
0.5 tbsp ghee
0.25 cup yellow onion
1 tsp fresh ginger
1 tsp garlic
0.5 cup tomato puree
1 tsp garam masala
0.5 tsp turmeric
0.5 tsp cumin
0.25 tsp sea salt
0.25 tsp black pepper
0.5 cup basmati rice
1 tbsp fresh cilantro
PREPARATION
In a small bowl, combine the diced chicken breast with half of the Greek yogurt and a pinch of salt and pepper; let marinate for 10 minutes.
Heat the ghee in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the marinated chicken until golden brown on all sides, then remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, sauté the diced onion, minced ginger, and garlic until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
Stir in the garam masala, turmeric, and cumin, allowing the spices to toast for 30 seconds.
Pour in the tomato puree and simmer for 5 minutes, then stir in the remaining Greek yogurt to create a creamy sauce.
Add the chicken back into the skillet and simmer for another 3-5 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
Serve the chicken tikka masala over the warm cooked basmati rice and garnish with fresh cilantro.
