Double Bacon Cheeseburger with Caramelized Onions
Juicy grass-fed beef patties seared to perfection and topped with smoky turkey bacon and savory caramelized onions wrapped in crisp, refreshing butter lettuce.
INGREDIENTS
5 oz Ground beef (93% lean)
1 slice Turkey bacon
0.5 slice Sharp cheddar cheese
0.5 medium Yellow onion
0.5 tsp Avocado oil
2 large Butter lettuce leaves
1 slice Tomato
1 tsp Yellow mustard
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
PREPARATION
Thinly slice the yellow onion into half-moons.
Heat avocado oil in a small skillet over medium-low heat and add the onions, cooking slowly for 15 minutes until caramelized and deep golden brown.
Divide the ground beef into two equal portions and shape them into thin, wide patties.
Season both sides of each patty with sea salt and black pepper.
In a separate non-stick skillet, cook the turkey bacon over medium heat until crispy, then remove and set aside.
In the same skillet used for the bacon, increase heat to medium-high and sear the beef patties for 3 minutes on the first side.
Flip the patties and place the cheddar cheese slice on one of them, then cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Stack the non-cheese patty on top of the cheesy patty to help the cheese melt further.
Lay the butter lettuce leaves flat and place the double patty stack in the center.
Top with the turkey bacon, caramelized onions, tomato slice, and mustard before folding the lettuce leaves tightly around the burger to serve.
