Cajun Blackened Catfish with Lemon Aioli
Pan-seared catfish fillets coated in a zesty spice blend and served with a bright lemon aioli and tender steamed broccoli for a vibrant, smoky finish.
INGREDIENTS
8 oz Catfish fillets
1 tbsp Avocado oil
1 tsp Smoked paprika
0.5 tsp Garlic powder
0.5 tsp Onion powder
0.25 tsp Cayenne pepper
0.5 tsp Dried thyme
0.5 tsp Dried oregano
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
2 tbsp Plain Greek yogurt
1 tsp Avocado oil mayonnaise
1 tsp Lemon juice
1 cup Broccoli florets
PREPARATION
In a small bowl, whisk together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, thyme, oregano, sea salt, and black pepper.
Pat the catfish fillets completely dry with paper towels and rub the spice mixture generously onto both sides of the fish.
Heat the avocado oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until the oil is shimmering and very hot.
Place the catfish fillets in the skillet and sear for 3 to 4 minutes per side until a dark crust forms and the fish flakes easily with a fork.
While the fish is searing, place the broccoli florets in a steamer basket over boiling water and steam for 5 minutes until tender-crisp.
In a small ramekin, stir together the Greek yogurt, avocado oil mayonnaise, and lemon juice to create the aioli.
Plate the blackened catfish alongside the steamed broccoli and serve immediately with a dollop of the lemon aioli.
