Classic Baked Ziti with Ricotta
Zesty marinara and lean turkey baked with chickpea ziti and creamy ricotta for a bubbly and golden finish.
INGREDIENTS
1 oz Chickpea ziti pasta
4 oz Ground turkey
0.5 cup Marinara sauce
0.25 cup Part-skim ricotta cheese
0.5 oz Part-skim mozzarella cheese
0 tsp Extra virgin olive oil
1 clove Garlic
0.25 tsp Dried oregano
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
1 tbsp Fresh basil
PREPARATION
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook the chickpea ziti in a pot of boiling water for 2 minutes less than the package directions until it is al dente.
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
Add the ground turkey, sea salt, black pepper, and dried oregano to the skillet, cooking and breaking it apart until fully browned.
Pour in the marinara sauce and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
In a small bowl, stir together the part-skim ricotta cheese and half of the chopped fresh basil.
Drain the pasta and combine it with the meat sauce, then gently fold in dollops of the ricotta mixture.
Transfer the mixture to a small oven-safe baking dish and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the top.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the cheese is melted and the edges are bubbling.
Garnish with the remaining fresh basil and serve immediately.
