Mozzarella Stick Beef Burger with Marinara
Pan-seared lean beef patty topped with gooey melted mozzarella and zesty marinara sauce, served on a toasted whole wheat bun with fresh greens.
INGREDIENTS
4 oz 93% lean ground beef
2 oz Part-skim mozzarella cheese sticks
0 whole Whole wheat burger bun
0.25 cup No-sugar-added marinara sauce
1 cup Fresh baby spinach
0.25 tsp Garlic powder
0.25 tsp Dried oregano
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
0.5 tsp Avocado oil
PREPARATION
In a small bowl, mix the ground beef with garlic powder, dried oregano, sea salt, and black pepper until just combined.
Form the seasoned beef into one large, even patty about 1/2 inch thick.
Heat the avocado oil in a cast-iron skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
Place the patty in the skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on the first side until a deep brown crust forms.
Flip the burger and immediately place the mozzarella cheese sticks, sliced in half lengthwise, on top of the patty.
Cover the pan with a lid for 2 minutes to allow the cheese to become perfectly gooey and melted.
While the cheese melts, lightly toast the whole wheat bun in a separate pan or toaster until golden.
Warm the marinara sauce in a small saucepan or microwave-safe dish until steaming.
Place the baby spinach on the bottom bun, followed by the cheesy beef patty.
Spoon the warm marinara sauce over the melted cheese and top with the remaining bun half.
