Double Bacon Cheeseburger with Caramelized Onions
Pan-seared lean beef patties topped with sharp cheddar and crispy bacon, nestled in fresh lettuce wraps with melt-in-your-mouth caramelized onions for a savory and satisfying meal.
INGREDIENTS
7 oz Ground beef (93% lean)
1 slice Center-cut bacon
0.5 oz Sharp cheddar cheese
0.5 cup Yellow onion
0.5 tsp Extra virgin olive oil
2 large Butter lettuce leaves
1 slice Tomato
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
1 tsp Yellow mustard
PREPARATION
Thinly slice the yellow onion and heat olive oil in a small skillet over medium-low heat. Add onions and a pinch of salt, cooking for 15-20 minutes until soft and golden brown.
Place the bacon slice in a cold skillet and turn heat to medium, cooking until crispy, then drain on a paper towel and cut in half.
Divide the ground beef into two equal portions and form into thin patties, then season both sides with sea salt and black pepper.
Increase skillet heat to medium-high and sear the patties for 3-4 minutes per side until cooked through.
Place the cheddar cheese on one patty and stack the other patty on top to melt the cheese during the last minute of cooking.
Lay out the butter lettuce leaves and place the double patty stack in the center.
Top with the crispy bacon halves, caramelized onions, tomato slice, and yellow mustard before wrapping the lettuce tightly.
