Rinse the yellow split lentils under cold water until the water runs clear and set aside.

Add the diced chicken breast to the pot along with the turmeric powder, ground cumin, sea salt, and black pepper, searing the chicken for 3-4 minutes.
Pour in the lentils and water, bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover.
Simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the lentils are soft and the chicken is fully cooked through.
Stir in the fresh spinach during the last 2 minutes of cooking until just wilted.
Warm the whole wheat roti in a dry skillet for 30 seconds on each side.
Garnish the daal with fresh chopped cilantro and serve immediately alongside the warm roti.
