Classic Double Cheeseburger with Special Sauce
Lean beef patties seared until juicy and topped with melted cheddar, served on toasted whole wheat buns with a tangy yogurt-based special sauce.
INGREDIENTS
5 oz 96% lean ground beef
0.25 tsp sea salt
0.25 tsp black pepper
0.25 tsp garlic powder
2 slices ultra-thin sharp cheddar cheese
2 whole whole wheat slider buns
2 tbsp nonfat plain Greek yogurt
1 tsp yellow mustard
1 tsp sugar-free pickle relish
0.25 tsp smoked paprika
2 leaves butter lettuce
2 slices tomato
4 slices red onion
PREPARATION
In a small bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, yellow mustard, sugar-free pickle relish, and smoked paprika to create the special sauce.
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and press them into very thin patties.
Season both sides of each patty evenly with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Heat a non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and sear the patties for 2 minutes per side until a deep golden crust forms.
Cut the cheese slices in half and place one half-slice on each of the 4 patties during the last 30 seconds of cooking to melt.
Lightly toast the whole wheat slider buns in the same skillet or a toaster until warm.
Spread the special sauce on the bottom of each bun, then stack two patties onto each bun to create two double cheeseburgers.
Top with butter lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion before closing with the top buns.
