Pan-Seared Tofu with Japanese Fried Rice
Pan-seared tofu cubes seasoned with nutritional yeast served over savory Japanese fried rice and edamame for a satisfying, umami-rich meal.
INGREDIENTS
8 oz Extra firm tofu
0.25 cup Trader Joe's Japanese Style Fried Rice
0.5 cup Shelled edamame
1 tbsp Nutritional yeast
0.5 tsp Avocado oil
1 tbsp Coconut aminos
0.25 tsp Garlic powder
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
1 tbsp Green onions
PREPARATION
Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut into 1-inch cubes.
Toss tofu cubes in a bowl with nutritional yeast, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
Heat avocado oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
Add tofu to the skillet in a single layer and sear for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
Remove tofu from the pan and set aside.
In the same pan, add the frozen Japanese fried rice and shelled edamame.
Sauté for 5-7 minutes until the rice is heated through and the edamame is tender.
Stir in the coconut aminos and return the tofu to the pan, tossing gently to combine.
Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately.
