Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Place the cherry tomatoes and minced garlic on a small baking sheet, drizzle with the extra virgin olive oil, and roast for 15 minutes until the tomatoes are blistered and soft.
While the tomatoes roast, bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the whole wheat penne according to the package instructions until it reaches an al dente texture.
In a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground turkey and season with sea salt, black pepper, and dried oregano.
Cook the turkey, breaking it up with a spatula, until it is thoroughly browned and no longer pink.
Drain the cooked pasta, reserving about 2 tablespoons of the starchy pasta water.
Add the roasted tomatoes and their juices, the cooked penne, and the reserved pasta water into the skillet with the turkey.
Toss everything together over low heat for 1 minute to allow the flavors to meld and the tomato juices to coat the pasta.
Remove from heat and stir in the freshly chopped basil before serving warm.
