Classic Baked Ziti with Ricotta
Whole wheat pasta tossed with lean ground turkey and aromatic marinara, baked under a bubbly, golden layer of ricotta and mozzarella.
INGREDIENTS
4 oz Lean ground turkey
1.5 oz Dry whole wheat ziti
0.25 cup Part-skim ricotta cheese
1 oz Part-skim shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tbsp Grated parmesan cheese
0.5 cup No-sugar-added marinara sauce
1 cup Fresh baby spinach
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
0.25 tsp Dried oregano
0.25 tsp Garlic powder
PREPARATION
Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a small oven-safe baking dish.
Cook the whole wheat ziti in a pot of boiling water until just al dente, then drain and set aside.
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground turkey until fully cooked and no longer pink.
Stir in the marinara sauce, chopped baby spinach, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, simmering until the spinach is wilted.
Toss the cooked pasta with the turkey and sauce mixture until every noodle is well coated.
Transfer half of the pasta mixture into the baking dish, dollop the ricotta cheese evenly over the top, and cover with the remaining pasta.
Sprinkle with mozzarella and parmesan cheese, then bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
