Pan-Seared Ahi Tuna with Wasabi Mayo
Pan-seared sesame-crusted ahi tuna served with a zesty wasabi drizzle alongside a crisp cucumber and edamame salad.
INGREDIENTS
6 oz Ahi tuna steak
1 tbsp Avocado oil mayonnaise
1 tsp Wasabi paste
1 tsp Coconut aminos
1 tsp Avocado oil
0.5 cup Shelled edamame
1 cup Sliced cucumber
0.25 cup Sliced radishes
1 tsp Sesame seeds
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
PREPARATION
In a small bowl, whisk together the avocado oil mayonnaise, wasabi paste, and coconut aminos until the sauce is completely smooth.
Pat the ahi tuna steak completely dry with a paper towel and season all sides evenly with sea salt, black pepper, and sesame seeds.
Heat the avocado oil in a cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat until the oil is shimmering.
Carefully place the tuna in the hot pan and sear for 60 to 90 seconds per side for a perfect rare center, then remove from heat and let rest for 2 minutes.
While the tuna rests, steam the shelled edamame until tender and toss them in a bowl with the sliced cucumber and radishes.
Slice the tuna into thin strips against the grain and serve immediately with the prepared wasabi mayo and the fresh vegetable salad.
