Classic Beef Burger with Crispy Fries
Smashed lean beef patties seared until caramelized, served on a toasted bun with air-fried potato wedges for a satisfying crunch.
INGREDIENTS
6 oz 93% lean ground beef
0.5 whole sprouted grain bun
0.5 small russet potato
0.25 oz sharp cheddar cheese
1 leaf butter lettuce
1 slice tomato
1 slice red onion
0 tsp avocado oil
0.25 tsp sea salt
0.25 tsp black pepper
0.25 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp yellow mustard
PREPARATION
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F. Slice the russet potato into thin matchsticks, then toss them in a bowl with avocado oil, garlic powder, and half of the sea salt.
Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket and cook for 15-18 minutes until golden and crisp, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even browning.
Divide the ground beef into two equal portions and roll them into loose balls without overworking the meat.
Heat a dry cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until very hot. Place the beef balls in the pan and immediately smash them very thin with a heavy spatula.
Season the patties with the remaining sea salt and the black pepper. Cook for 2 minutes until a dark, caramelized crust forms on the bottom.
Flip the patties, immediately top each with the cheddar cheese, and cook for 1 minute more until the cheese is fully melted.
Lightly toast the bun faces in the pan juices for 30 seconds until golden.
Assemble the burger by spreading mustard on the bottom bun, followed by the lettuce, tomato, onion, and both beef patties. Serve immediately alongside the hot crispy fries.
