Add the sliced okra and the whole habanero pepper to the pot, then pour in the water.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then immediately reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.
Simmer for 45 to 60 minutes until the beef is fork-tender and the okra has broken down to create a naturally thick, silky sauce.
Carefully remove and discard the whole habanero pepper before serving the stew in warm bowls.
