Heat 0.5 tbsp of olive oil in a cast-iron or oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
Sear the chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until a golden-brown crust develops.
While the chicken sears, toss the asparagus with the remaining 0.5 tbsp of olive oil, minced garlic, and lemon zest.
Place the skillet with the chicken and the baking sheet with the asparagus into the oven.
Roast for 10-12 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and the asparagus is tender.
Remove from the oven, drizzle everything with fresh lemon juice, and let the chicken rest for 3 minutes before serving.
