Tender whole wheat ziti and lean ground turkey baked in a vibrant herb-infused marinara with dollops of creamy ricotta and melted mozzarella.
INGREDIENTS
5 oz Ground turkey
1 oz Whole wheat ziti pasta
0.5 cup Marinara sauce
2 tbsp Part-skim ricotta cheese
0.5 oz Shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup Fresh baby spinach
1 tsp Extra virgin olive oil
1 clove Garlic
0.25 tsp Dried oregano
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
PREPARATION
Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a small baking dish.
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the whole wheat ziti until just al dente, then drain.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
Add the ground turkey to the skillet, seasoning with sea salt and black pepper, and cook until browned and crumbled.
Stir in the fresh baby spinach and cook until just wilted, then pour in the marinara sauce and dried oregano.
Toss the cooked ziti into the skillet with the turkey and sauce until every noodle is well coated.
Transfer the mixture to the baking dish, dollop the ricotta cheese evenly across the top, and sprinkle with mozzarella.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the cheese is melted and the edges are bubbly and golden.
