Beer-Battered Fish and Chips
Crispy air-fried cod fillets coated in a light beer batter served with golden hand-cut potato wedges and vibrant mashed peas for a crunchy, satisfying pub classic.
INGREDIENTS
6 oz Cod fillet
1 medium Russet potato
1 tbsp All-purpose flour
2 tbsp Light beer
1 large Egg white
0.5 tbsp Avocado oil
0.5 cup Frozen green peas
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
0.25 tsp Garlic powder
1 wedge Lemon
PREPARATION
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
Slice the russet potato into thin wedges, toss with half of the avocado oil and a pinch of sea salt, then air-fry for 15-20 minutes until golden and tender.
In a small bowl, whisk the egg white until frothy, then gently stir in the flour, light beer, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper to create a smooth, light batter.
Pat the cod fillets completely dry with a paper towel and dip each piece into the batter until evenly coated on all sides.
Lightly grease the air fryer basket with the remaining avocado oil and place the battered fish inside, cooking at 375°F for 10-12 minutes until the crust is crispy and the fish flakes easily.
While the fish and chips finish, steam the green peas in a small amount of water and lightly mash them with a fork.
Serve the crispy beer-battered fish alongside the potato wedges and mashed peas with a fresh lemon wedge on the side.
