Mozzarella Stick Beef Burger
Pan-seared lean beef patty topped with gooey melted mozzarella sticks and crisp garden vegetables on a toasted whole wheat bun.
INGREDIENTS
6 oz Ground beef (93% lean)
0.5 whole Whole wheat burger bun
1 whole Part-skim mozzarella cheese stick
0 tsp Extra virgin olive oil
0.25 tsp Sea salt
0.25 tsp Black pepper
0.25 tsp Garlic powder
1 leaf Romaine lettuce
2 slice Tomato
1 slice Red onion
PREPARATION
Form the ground beef into a thick patty and season both sides evenly with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Slice the mozzarella cheese stick in half crosswise so the pieces fit comfortably on top of the burger patty.
Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until it begins to shimmer.
Place the beef patty in the skillet and sear for 4 to 5 minutes until a deep brown crust has developed.
Flip the patty and immediately place the mozzarella stick halves on top of the cooked side.
Cover the skillet with a lid for 2 to 3 minutes to allow the cheese to melt thoroughly while the burger finishes cooking.
Lightly toast the whole wheat bun in the same skillet or a toaster until the edges are golden and crisp.
Assemble the burger by placing the cheesy patty on the bottom bun and layering with the romaine lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion.
