Welcome to Muscle Burns Fat! This 6 week program uses dumbbells only, making it ideal for home or the gym.
There’s three full body workouts each week, combining compound and isolation exercises to maximize strength gains, muscle growth, and fat burning.
Between working, mom-ing and life-ing, I wouldn’t have time if it took longer than 45 minutes so I’ve used my skills as a certified Personal Trainer and knowledge as an exercise science nerd, to design the BEST GYM PROGRAM busy people can do at home!
Each circuit (combo set) includes four exercises and there’s two circuits in each workout. Move one exercise to the next in each circuit, pausing just long enough to catch your breath and feel ready to move on. Yes, you’ll still build muscle at this pace because the shoulders get a break during your 30 second rest AND while training the back, legs and biceps, for example.
This method of training reduces total workout time and removes the boredom some people experience with traditional straight sets.
Before you start, I want to answer the two most common questions I get about this program:
1. Why just two leg exercises per workout?
Completing all three full body workouts each week provides 18 working sets for legs (24 if following advanced). Exercise science shows that 10-20 sets per week are required for muscle growth.
2. Three, 45 minute sessions - are you sure it’s enough?
If you feel like you can do MORE, it suggests to me that you need to increase your dumbbell weight. If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you!

In just 5 weeks I have lost a total of 5 pounds and I can see the definition in my arms and legs. This is the only program I’ve ever stayed consistent with. I started with the YT 20 minute workouts after covid and from there built confidence form and consistency/habit, and then got hooked. These challenges however were the game changer. They help you get to ‘progressive overload’ in a self paced but very supportive safe space to do you and do just 1% better than last time! I’ll be honest — I was a little skeptical at first. Three full-body days a week? Only three workouts? I had never really trained like that before, and I wasn’t sure it would deliver results. But after following Cheryl for a while and seeing the incredible transformations other women were having, I decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did. Coming off a long-term injury, I knew I needed something that allowed for rest and recovery while still challenging me. I love the six week format that is divided up into three two week segments. Do the same exercises six times and then you move on to the next. This really helped me focus on form and really just completing the set. I get so bogged down with, "what am I going to do today? And how many do I need to do with this and I haven't done that in a while." This is a great road map for working the entire body. I have been sore this entire time. LOL.
